This GERmanikure crystal glass file is handcrafted in the Czech Republic from thick Bohemian glass and specially formulated and tempered against breaking. Unlike thinner, cheap imitations where the file may break or texture may eventually scrape or even peel off like a sticker, the texture on this file is chemically etched directly into the 3mm thick glass and is impossible to wear off. Chemical etching gently removes a portion of the surface of the file, leaving behind random, yet evenly placed rounded peaks. As a result, this file can actually be used either wet or dry, in both directions without causing microscopic frays and gouges on either nails or cuticles.
Philosophy behind GERmanikure glass nail files
Buying crystal glass nail files and spotting fakes
This glass file is coated in a thin transparent film of titanium dioxide that is permanently bonded to the glass surface. When exposed to UV light, titanium dioxide undergoes a microscopic photocatalytic reaction which reduces bacteria, fungi and viruses. This new patent pending technology has not yet undergone FDA review and this statement was not approved by the FDA. You must comply with any applicable state laws and regulations regarding proper hygiene and sterilization procedures.
UV disinfection is gaining widespread use in multiple industries over the years since its initial discovery in 1903. Anti-pollution devices such as water treatment facilities and air purifiers are some of the more increasingly common ways this technology is used. Many labs currently use UV disinfection techniques to clean testing equipment, goggles and respirators. More and more studies on the safety and effectiveness of UV sterilization are being conducted each year.
- In a study conducted by researchers from the Institute of Chemical Technology in Prague, Czechia published in the November 15, 2011 issue of the Journal of Hazardous Matter
publication, it was concluded that bacteria and other microorganisms on the antibacterial nail file surface were reduced by 99% after a one hour exposure time to bright UV light.
- In 2014, the Czech Society for Applied Photocatalysis cited research and issued a certificate confirming the photocatalytic action that takes place on the surface of the nail file over a one hour exposure which results in almost 100% bacterial removal at the end of this timeframe. This certificate also confirms that the titanium dioxide coated nail file product meets all safety requirements and is in no way harmful to the human organism.
- Dr. Akira Fujishama, Director of Photocatalysis International Research Center and President of the Tokyo University of Science recommended antibacterial nail files "as an example of useful application of a scientific advantage in nanotechnology and photocatalysis for everyday use in people's lives."
Glass itself has natural antibacterial/anti-fungal qualities and cleans up easily with simple soap and water. Unlike cheaper glass “files” there are no microscopic crevices and cracks in the surface of this crystal glass file that will harbor fungus, bacteria, or dead skin particles.
In addition to the UV disinfection properties, the handle of this glass file is transparent and free of color which permits this file to be sterilized professionally in a high temperature autoclave as well as by other professional sterilization methods such as a chemical dip or steam sterilizer.
NOTE: UV disinfection is not an adequate substitute for sterilization. UV disinfection is intended to supplement established sterilization guidelines and regimens. Please consult applicable laws and regulations in your area for further details.
Use Wet or Dry
GERmanikure glass nail files work equally well wet or dry, on natural nails, SNS, and acrylics. Whatever nail surface you want to smooth, these glass files are strong and durable enough to do the job.
Dual Direction Filing
Unlike single direction files that “sand” the nail, a crystal glass nail file seals the nail with every stroke, regardless whether that stroke is backwards, forwards, or a combination of both. After filing with a crystal glass nail file and examined at many times magnification, a freshly filed nail edge is smooth and rounded; a nail that is filed with a “sanded” nail file has microscopically frayed edges.
Tough and Durable
GERmanikure crystal glass files aren’t as brittle as you might think. These files are crafted of 3mm thick authentic Bohemian glass which is chemically hardened and tempered to resist breaking. This special glass treatment not only enhances the clarity and sparkle of the glass, but also adds resiliency. While breakage is possible with all glass, dropping a GERmanikure crystal glass file from a short distance (such as counter height to floor) will, in most cases, not break the file.
Even though this thick bohemian glass file is crafted of the finest hardened Czech crystal and designed to last for decades, GERmanikure goes a step further. This file comes complete with a custom fitted leather sleeve. For our friends who prefer non-leather options, we offer a vegan friendly pvc protective sleeve instead of leather, upon request. The case will prevent damage to the file when it is not in use.
This heirloom quality nail file is produced under patent in the Czech Republic. Look for the authentic holographic label containing the patent number on every file.
GERmanikure believes in long tool life, healthful living, and good environmental stewardship. Each glass file is handcrafted in the Czech Republic by trained adult artisans paid a living wage. This item is guaranteed free from unethical workmanship such as forced labor or child labor.
