This price is rather high for what it is. I use this file to keep me from chewing my nails (I'm a man). I've used emory boards, a glass file, and a stone file. The glass file had a coating to give it a coarse surface, which easily came off. The stone / ceramic file would fill up its pores with nail, and thus become smooth and unable to grind. This thing will likely always work forever. As far as I can tell, the surface is just as coarse on one side as the other. Good for shaping, will work forever, a bit too pricey. You might want to get a less coarse one for smoothing.

I just would like to purchase an old fashioned nail file that has NO PLASTIC on it. Sharp - old fashioned kind of file. Do you sell such a thing ? In the grocery stores I can only find the kind w/ the plastic handle ~ and they are NOT as sharp.

Remarkably sharp cut, well made old fashioned nail file. I don't like the feel of the modern emery boards or glass files except for surface polishing, This is a large, easy to handle file. For travel, I recommend the smaller size.
