Dovo
According to the documents held by the magistrate's court of the independent local authority of Wald, near Solingen, the company DOVO Steelware was founded in 1906. By 1930, Solingen had become bigger through the incorporation of outlying villages, (including Wald), and the law passed in 1938 to protect the name of Solingen gave it greater pride and security as well as a still greater sense of local identity. ”DOVO” become independent family concern since 1936.
More than 90% of DOVO’s scissors, which are largely produced manually, are hot-forged. The materials used in their manufacture include the tried-and-tested carbon steel categories C45 and C60; however, more than half of them are manufactured from non-corrosive stainless steel including at least 13% chromium and 0.46% carbon. In some cases, special alloys with a higher proportion of chromium or molybdenum are used.
Examinations of the material, hardness, pattern and extent of grinding of the scissors are essential parts of the quality control process at DOVO, along with functional and optical checks.
The "Solingen quality" is a minimum requirement for DOVO, which is fulfilled by the entire product range. The endeavor to improve on this quality is our most important precept!
